Head of GGP Farming Operations

Aviagen is the world’s leading poultry science company, developing pedigree lines for the production of broiler chickens and turkeys. The company is based near Edinburgh, UK with a number of wholly owned operations and joint ventures across the world.
Based at Newbridge, Edinburgh, and reporting to the General Manager, Aviagen Ltd a vacancy has arisen for a Head of GGP Operations who will be responsible for leading the GGP Farming operations, consisting of 20 farm sites across Scotland and the North of England and a hatchery in the Rugby area.
This senior role is responsible for the development and implementation of the operational strategy and to ensure the efficient and bio-secure production of high quality stock to Grandparent customers across the European and TMEA regions. A core part of the role is to ensure the GGP operations management teams are continuously developed, target driven and that the GGP operation meets all H&S, welfare and statutory requirements at the same time as ensuring the farming and hatchery base are maintained and developed to industry leading standards. As a key Member of the UK Executive Management Team, this role is responsible for all aspects of Aviagen Ltd GGP production strategy including management of annual operating budgets and capital budgets.

- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 years production management experience and a strong knowledge of poultry management. A higher level qualification in agricultural sciences is considered beneficial but not essential.
